Press Release: Unearthed 1985–86 Rock Gem “The Matrix Tapes” Set for October Release

 UK – September 15, 2025 – A lost chapter of 1980s rock history is about to resurface. Cris Martin’s Rock Dawn: The Matrix Tapes, a collection of unreleased recordings from 1985–86 at London’s iconic Matrix Studios, will hit shelves and download platforms on October 24, 2025.

Featuring the raw talents of Cris Martin (ex-Thunderstick, Fired-up), Tony Forsythe (Weapon UK), and the late Bryson Graham (ex-Girl, Spooky Tooth), this album is a nostalgic tribute to a pivotal era in rock, glam, and proto-punk.

Recorded amidst the vibrant chaos of Matrix Studios, the 11 tracks including three Cherry Studios demos, capture the unpolished energy of the mid-80s London scene. Co-written by Martin and Forsythe, with contributions from keyboardist and award winning Composer Mike McEvoy, these long-lost recordings have been meticulously remixed and re-mastered by Martin to honor Graham’s rhythmic legacy 32 years after his passing in 1993.

“This album is a time capsule,” says Martin. “It’s the sound of three friends creating magic in the heart of London’s rock scene, and a chance to celebrate Bryson’s unforgettable fire. After 40 years, it’s time these tapes saw the light of day.”

Available in limited-edition CD format, complete with exclusive liner notes and also available to download, the release appeals

Preparations are now in advanced stages for our first video shoot for our first single ‘Call of the Wild’ with very special guest vocalist, the one and only Blaze Bayley and will also feature the new Rock Dawn band lineup of Adam Sheppard on guitar, Larry Paterson behind the drum kit, Neil Salmon on bass and special guest on Keyboards and Mandolin, James Scott. Rock Dawn’s resident guitar virtuoso Cris Martin, recently attended British Lion’s gig at the Quarterhouse in Folkestone and had the pleasure of meeting Bassman and Iron Maiden founder member Steve Harris and also handed him a complimentary copy of the Rock Dawn CD. Steve also very kindly singed a small number of copies of the CD.
